Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse confirmed that Tyrese Maxey won’t play in the team’s latest back-to-back set against the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors.

Maxey has missed the last 13 games due to a sprained right finger, though he was a partial participant during Friday’s practice. The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t announced their plans to shut down the one-time NBA All-Star (unlike Joel Embiid and Paul George) this season.
“He got in some of the 5-on-0 work, and got into all the shooting drills and did a little bit of post practice shooting as well,” Nurse said about Maxey via Ky Carlin of the Sixers Wire. “He’s just trying to get back out there and get moving and start ramping up and see when we can get him back out there.”

The 24-year-old guard is not the only notable player hoping to return to the court, as Kyle Lowry (hip) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) also plan to return at some point. Meanwhile, Lonnie Walker IV (concussion) was a full participant last Friday and Andre Drummond (toe) didn’t practice.
Philadelphia 76ers should hit the reset button
The Philadelphia 76ers are on the brink of elimination from the play-in tournament. They are 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 23-50 record and have lost nine of their past 10 matches.

They are fresh from a 119-114 loss against the Washington Wizards last Wednesday despite having six players score double-digit points.
Quentin Grimes posted 22 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and four three-pointers on 6-for-16 shooting from the field. Guerschon Yabusele, Justin Edwards, Jared Butler, Ricky Council IV, and Jeff Dowtin Jr. added 21, 19, 14, 13, and 11 points.
