NBA money is big money. Just ask Philadelphia 76ers star forward Paul George who just inked a massive four-year deal worth $211.58 million with the Sixers in early July. George has come a long way in his pro career. Looking back, George’s first contract in the NBA was only $10.5 million for four years with the Indiana Pacers in 2010.

That’s a life-changing amount, and George must have bought a lot with that money. In a recent episode of Podcast P with Paul George (h/t HoopsHype), the nine-time NBA All-Star revealed that he tried to spend some of it by buying a Ferrari –from eBay.
“My first purchase, I think I got a Ferrari. What’s funny about this story… I just made my deal, right? And I was still trying to be cheap at the same time. This how cheap I was, though. My ass went on eBay to look for look up Ferrari.
I swear. I bought my first Ferrari on eBay. I was like, ‘Damn, I want one. What’s the cheapest one I can get?’ I bought a 430, all black, low mileage. The dude was actually a cool dude. He owned a ton of cars, had a huge car collection, and he was like, I’ll sell it to you. He was a fan. I’ll sell it to you. So I got it for the low, and it was a smooth transaction. Low mileage on a Ferrari, it was a 430.
Buying a supercar from eBay is still a pretty lucrative venture even if George tried to downplay it by saying he was only trying to be cheap.

Speaking of “super,” George is now part of a new superteam in the NBA, as he joins Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid in Philly with the common goal of bringing Philadelphia’s first league title since 1983.
