Philadelphia 76ers news: After a lot of back and forth with his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul George eventually got his wish to secure a max contract. It just wasn’t with the Clippers, though, as it was the Sixers who decided to give the nine-time All-Star the money he was asking for in free agency.
George’s big-money contract has been a polarizing subject in and around the NBA. One former star who has made his feelings about it abundantly clear is Brandon Jennings.
Philadelphia 76ers: Brandon Jennings’ Strong Reaction to Paul George Deal
Speaking in a recent episode of the Gil’s Arena show with Gilbert Arenas, Jennings made his opinion about Philly’s Paul George deal known.
The former Milwaukee Bucks star said straight up that he does not agree with the 76ers’ decision to give PG a max deal. Now that they have, however, Jennings has dropped a strong championship-or-bust statement for them:
“Y’all gave him $212 million to be the third option? Philly better win the championship this year. They better win the championship this year… I don’t wanna hear sh*t,” Jennings declared.

As Jennings said, George will slot into Philly’s starting five alongside their two superstars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. You have to say, Jennings does have a bit of a point in questioning whether or not it was a sound decision to give such an insane amount of money to a third option.
It goes without saying, however, that all the slander will be put to bed if the Sixers win the chip this season.
