Jimmy Butler played 55 games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2018-19 season. This was before the Sixers traded the 6-foot-7 forward in a four-team blockbuster trade to the Miami Heat.
At this point, it appears that the Sixers are looking to correct that mistake by bringing back Butler this offseason.
Philadelphia 76ers Willing to Give Jimmy Butler Max Deal

At this point, Paul George appears to be the Sixers’ primary target in NBA free agency. However, given the uncertainty surrounding the nine-time All-Star, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported that the Sixers have identified Butler as one of their contingency plans should their chase for PG fall through.
Pompey also indicated that the Sixers are willing to go as high as $113 million for two years in order to lure Butler back to Philly:
“And, according to sources, the Sixers are prepared to give Butler a maximum-salary extension if things align and he forces a trade out of Miami.
“Butler, who turns 35 on Sept. 14, has $48.8 million guaranteed for next season and a player option for $52.2 million for the 2025-26 season. The former Sixer wants a two-year maximum extension for $113 million. There had been reports that Miami may look to trade the small forward rather than give him an extension,” Pompey wrote.

The biggest factor here is whether or not the Heat will decide to part ways with Butler. If they decide that he’s no longer worth his weight in gold, then a trade could be forthcoming.
In this scenario, you can be sure that teams from around the NBA will show a lot of interest in potentially acquiring the five-time All-NBA forward, which means that the Sixers will likely have their work cut out for them.
