Patrick Beverley’s Intriguing Reaction To Paul George Joining Philadelphia 76ers

Paul George’s recent decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a max contract has drawn a lot of takes around the NBA. Among those who have reacted to this latest development in the league is veteran guard Patrick Beverley.

George has agreed to sign a four-year, $212 million max contract with the Sixers. The nine-time All-Star is set to create a formidable trio of former MVP Joel Embiid and All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, creating one of the most talented rosters in the league.

George, who had spent the last five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, elected to decline his $48.7 million player option for the 2024-25 season, opting instead to sign with the Sixers as a free agent. The move came as a surprise, as the Clippers had been negotiating with the wing for months in an attempt to retain him, but the two sides were ultimately unable to reach an agreement.

The addition of George is a significant coup for Philadelphia, who have struggled to build a championship-caliber team around Embiid despite his emergence as an MVP-caliber player. With George’s scoring prowess, defensive versatility, and playoff experience, the 76ers will now have a much stronger chance of contending for an NBA title in the coming seasons.

George’s decision to sign with the Sixers has drawn a lot of opinions from fans and NBA personalities alike. Among those individuals is Beverley, as seen in a tweet he posted on his official X account.

“PG go love Philly 🔥🔥🔥🔥” Beverley tweeted.

Beverley spent two seasons playing with George for the Los Angeles Clippers from 2019 to 2021. The veteran guard also played 47 games for the Sixers last season before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 34-year-old George joins a Sixers team that has been a perennial underachiever, even as Embiid blossomed into one of the top players in the NBA. They have not won an NBA title since 1983 or even advanced out of the semifinals of the Eastern Conference since 2001. The Sixers have strengthened their roster with key offseason additions, and George’s talent and experience could be the missing piece to help the team finally contend for a championship.

George’s signing instantly elevates Philly to contenders for next season. If all goes well, the trio of George, Embiid, and Maxey can give the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks serious competition in the Eastern Conference.
