The Philadelphia 76ers had to put in a lot of work to get the Paul George deal done. In the end, it took them $211 million to get their man.
As it appears, George was destined to land in Philly. According to the nine-time All-Star himself, he knew deep down that he would cross paths with Sixers superstar Joel Embiid somewhere down the road.
Philadelphia 76ers News: Paul George Saw Joel Embiid Partnership Coming

George spoke to the media on Tuesday during a Sixers press conference and one of the biggest revelations he dropped was about his desire to play alongside Embiid. Apparently, these two formed quite a bond off the court through the years — one that eventually led to these two superstars teaming up on the same squad.
“Joel has secretly been one of my closest All-Star game friends. It kinda felt inevitable that we would link up and be teammates,” George said (h/t Legion Hoops on X, formerly Twitter).

Despite this feeling from George, however, so many factors still came into play before he finally decided to come to Philadelphia. At the end of the day, having the opportunity to compete for a championship alongside one of the top big men in the league today was an opportunity that was too good to pass up for George.
Turning down $211 million must have been even harder.
