Joel Embiid’s Paul George Recruitment Video Resurfaces After Philadelphia 76ers Deal

Just recently, All-Star wing Paul George inked a max contract with the Philadelphia 76ers to join point guard Tyrese Maxey and big man Joel Embiid there. This latest development prompted the resurfacing of the latter’s video and how he sneakily recruited the former Los Angeles Clippers star back then.

The Sixers have landed George on a four-year, $212 million contract. The All-Star played the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, but decided to join the Eastern Conference for the first time since his final season with the Indiana Pacers in 2016-17.

This deal places George to play with Maxey, who was named an All-Star for the first time last season. His addition gives the Sixers a formidable Big Three alongside MVP center Joel Embiid, creating a championship-contending roster.

George, who averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game last season while shooting 41.3% from three-point range, will provide the Sixers with a two-way wing presence they have lacked. Both George and the Sixers are seeking their first NBA Finals appearance in over 20 years, and this move signals the team’s intention to break through the Eastern Conference ceiling.

The Sixers have also added several other key pieces in free agency, including Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon, as they build around their new star-studded trio of Embiid, Maxey and George.

During the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks, both George and Embiid appeared on NBA Countdown as guests. As seen in the tweets shared on X by Steven Adams Stats, JBond, and Kyrie Center, the Sixers’ All-Star big man subtly recruited the former Clippers wing on national television.

At that point in time, actively recruiting George would have resulted in a tampering fine for Embiid and the Sixers. It isn’t known yet whether the league will take action on the big man’s past actions or not.

With George now playing for Philly, expect his new team to take a shot against the Boston Celtics in the East. If they succeed, fans will get to see a new contender emerge in a conference that also has Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks and Jalen Brunson’s New York Knicks.
