Paul George was the talk of the town for the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday as the team officially introduced him to the media via a press availability session. A bit overshadowed by the George hype is the fact that the Sixers are now on the brink of signing a one-time NBA champion point guard via free agency.
According to reports, this comes in the form of 13-year veteran Reggie Jackson.
Philadelphia 76ers Signing Reggie Jackson

ESPN’s NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Tuesday.
“Veteran guard Reggie Jackson has agreed on a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets and plans to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers upon clearing waivers, sources told ESPN on Tuesday,” Woj reported.
As the report indicates, Jackson landed with the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month as part of a six-team trade deal that also involved the Dallas Mavericks, the Golden State Warriors, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and even the Sixers.
Jackson was part of the Klay Thompson sign-and-trade deal between the Warriors and the Mavs, which also saw the Sixers sending Buddy Hiled to Golden State in a separate sign-and-trade deal.

Jackson, who spent the last season and a half with the Nuggets, played his role in Denver’s championship run in 2023. He also suited up alongside George in LA, which may have played a role in Jackson’s decision to follow his former teammate to Philly.
During his spell in Denver, Jackson posted respectable averages of 9.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, while also knocking down 1.2 triples per game. Now that he’s headed to Philly, he will join the team’s backcourt rotation along with Tyrese Maxey, rookie Jared McCain, Eric Gordon, and Kelly Oubre Jr.
