The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be one of the top contenders for the 2024-25 NBA championship especially after they acquired two-way star Paul George in a blockbuster offseason signing. But Sixers fans shouldn’t be sleeping on the other weapons the Sixers have outside of George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey.
Well, on Monday night, no one was certainly ignoring 22-year-old Ricky Council IV, who put on a show in a Summer League game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The former Wichita State Shocker and Arkansas Razorbacks finished with a game-high 29 points on 9/18 shooting from the field and 5/10 from behind the arc in a 102-92 Sixers victory.

Council poured it on in the fourth quarter where he exploded for 19 points, as fans on social media go wild over his performance.

Although he’s not a household name, Council appears to have earned himself some new fans with his showing against Oklahoma City. Here are some of the comments online about his 29-point outburst:
“Future superstar”
“We were screaming for him to get minutes all last season. He’s really good”
“Dude gonna make a name for himself this year”
“Remember the name he was amazing with the little opportunity he got last season”
“This guy already showed what he can do last Summer League. It’s C4 time”
“Ricky is a HOOPER hooper”
Council went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Sixers signed him to a two-way contract and then gave him a four-year deal worth $7.38 million last April.
