The Philadelphia 76ers made a massive move this offseason when they brought in superstar forward Paul George. It was a move that clearly showed that the 76ers are all-in on winning a championship.
George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey are going to form a potentially lethal “Big Three.” All three players are legitimate scorers. The only question remaining is how they can gel together.
In order for Philadelphia to be the championship contender that they have the talent to be, they will need George to stay healthy and play aggressively. They’ll need him to be a leader both offensively and defensively. He’s capable of doing all of those things.
Heading into the season, George is looking to be aggressive and to live up to what the 76ers need him to be.
Philadelphia 76ers Star Paul George Reveals “Aggressive” Mindset
With just a couple of weeks remaining before the regular season gets underway, George spoke out about the mindset that he has heading into his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“I got to be aggressive,” George stated. Regardless if it’s preseason or not, I’m trying to just build habits. These guys have to get used to me. I got to get used to them. So I think I had to be myself. You know everybody has to be themselves for this to work.”
That is the kind of mindset that the 76ers will need him to have throughout the entire season. George needs to be aggressive and look to be the legitimate superstar that can take pressure off of Embiid.
During the 2023-24 NBA season with the Los Angeles Clippers, George ended up playing in 74 games. He averaged 22.6 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. George also shot 47.1 percent from the floor and 41.3 percent from the three-point line.
It will be interesting to see what version of George the Philadelphia 76ers end up getting. He has been criticized in the past for not being aggressive enough.
Hopefully, the mindset that he currently has in place sticks with him. If it does, the 76ers may very well have the piece of the puzzle that they have been missing over the last few years.
