One of the burning questions the Philadelphia 76ers have to deal with this upcoming season is who will have the ball when they need a bucket late in close games. It’s a good problem if you’re head coach Nick Nurse since he has Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George to choose from.
Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chet Holmgren brought this up during his appearance on the Podcast P show in his attempt to “f**k up” the Philadelphia 76ers’ chemistry. However, Paul George had a safe answer.
“Let me try and f**k up the chemistry. Y’all need a bucket at the end of the game, who’s shooting the shot?” Holmgren asked.
“That’s a Nick Nurse question. Whoever Nick Nurse draw it up for, we gon’ get the best shot,” George replied.
Chet Holmgren also asked if Paul George would be mad if he didn’t get the ball down the stretch, but the Philadelphia 76ers forward said he doesn’t mind.
“Nah, I’ve dealt with that. I’ve been on teams with other superstars, we live and die by whoever takes it,” George added.
Being in this situation is nothing new to Paul George since he has played with the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony in his career.
Paul George has high expectations for the Philadelphia 76ers
Paul George is excited to be in Philadelphia because he believes they have a shot at winning the NBA championship this season.
“I thought everything aligned perfectly. Where they’re at and trying to go vs where I’m trying to get to as well. I think we got a real legitimate shot (of winning a title). I’ve always been a fan of Tyrese (Maxey) and Joel from afar, and Joel has secretly been one of my closest All-Star Game friends,” George said in a press conference last month.
“It kinda felt inevitable that we would link up and be teammates. I’m all in. With the fan base, just the passion that goes into sports here in Philadelphia, there’s really no other place I wanted to align with and win in,” he added.
