Draymond Green believes that Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is on his way to superstardom. The 23-year-old guard signed a five-year, $204 million extension with the Philadelphia 76ers last month after winning last season’s NBA Most Improved Player of the Year award.
According to the Golden State Warriors forward, Maxey should start building his resume after getting the bag earlier this summer, so he pitched for him (and other young NBA stars) to be included in the 3×3 basketball action for Team USA.
“Why are not young NBA players on the 3-on-3 team?” Green said on his podcast. “Guys, that A. Have not gotten an opportunity to play on the national team yet. Or, B. Guys that may never get the opportunity.”
“This is about building a resume. I think he’s on his way to being a superstar, and he’ll probably be on the next Team USA—Tyrese Maxey. Like, imagine Maxey in that getting his first gold medal,” he added.
Tyrese Maxey is coming off his best season to date, averaging 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists on 45 percent shooting from the field, and 37.3 percent from three-point range in 70 regular season games in 2023-24.
He was better in the Philadelphia 76ers’ playoff run, averaging 29.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from the field.

Tyrese Maxey is already a superstar among Philadelphia 76ers fans because of his recent charity work. According to Lauren Rosen, he has donated $1 million to various Philadelphia-based organizations through his non-profit.
Maxey hosted a charity dinner that gave out school scholarships and held a fundraising golf tournament and his third annual basketball camp.
After exiting early in the playoffs last season, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to make a run to the Finals with Joel Embiid and Paul George as his running mates.
