“Oh My God, You Don’t Really Want Me to Stay” – Former Philadelphia 76ers Forward Opens Up on the Team’s Lowball Free Agency Offer

Guerschon Yabusele recently called out the Philadelphia 76ers for giving him a lowball offer during free agency, especially since he never wanted to leave the team in the first place.

After being out of the NBA in the past few years, Yabusele seized his second chance with the Philadelphia 76ers by becoming one of their most consistent contributors, averaging 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 50.1 percent shooting from the field across 70 regular season games (43 starts).

“Leaving Philly was not a major key,” Yabusele said on SKWEEK. “I was thinking to myself, I could have gone back. I didn’t really have any issues over there, like I wanna leave, no.”

“They almost didn’t make really like an offer,” he continued. “They did, but it was really, really low, to be really transparent. I felt like ‘Oh my god, you guys, seems like you don’t really want me to stay.’ The Knicks came around with a good offer, but also, I feel like the team and everything that they had to give us was a good choice.”

Philadelphia 76ers News: Jared McCain urges team to keep free agent swingman

After losing Guerschon Yabusele to the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers must figure out what to do with Quentin Grimes, who had a breakout stint with them and is a restricted free agent. Jared McCain is hoping for the team to retain the 25-year-old swingman on the roster next season.

“Oh, that’d be fire. I mean, he was killing when he got to Philly,” McCain said via SI’s Declan Harris. “It’s been cool to watch him from the bench, just see him go crazy, and then, actually, now to get to play with him would be a cool experience.”

“It feels like I’ve been watching him for so long, and I know him for so long, but haven’t even gotten to, like, share the floor at all with him,” he added. “So it’d be really cool to finally get out there and pick his brain and actually feel like how he plays and what, what stuff he doesn’t like, does like, and figure out how to play with him.”
