The Philadelphia 76ers know they need another star to have any hopes of winning a championship. Their gamble with Tobias Harris cost Joel Embiid’s prime years, and it’s now hard to say if they’ll actually be able to pull off a championship-caliber roster before his body completely gives up on him.
They understand that the answer to many of their problems can be found in free agency, and they can address their need for a third star through multiple avenues. Jimmy Butler is a popular name that they could bring back, but even Butler himself doubts leaving Wade County.

With the Butler plan likely dead in the water, they would have to go with a player like Paul George. George’s stint with the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t bear any fruit, and PG13 is looking for a chance to win one rin before he decides to call it a career.
George can turn Philly into a serious title contender if they win him over in free agency, but rumors are going around about a possible destination that would cause this plan to go up in flames.
Paul George may spurn the Philadelphia 76ers for the New York Knicks in free agency

According to Nicolas Kyle Pring of The Sixer Sense, the Knicks are seriously considering adding George to their roster. It was reported that the team was in deep talks with the Clippers before the 2023 NBA Draft, and they have the ability to absorb George’s salary demands with an arguably better roster.
Pring wrote about the potential dilemma the Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in:
George, who profiles as a perfect fit with the 76ers, would give Philly a very formidable trio with championship potential. However, the Knicks also stand out as an attractive option given their success this season, general market allure, and realistic shot at a title.

It would take plenty of convincing from Joel Embiid and the rest of the Sixers organization to convince Geroge to come to the City of Brotherly Love. It would be a huge win for them if they manage to steal him away from the Knicks.
However, if New York gets their man, you can consider Philly’s championship window all but shut.
