The Phoenix Suns secured a 108-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. The Suns escaped a close game after star guard Devin Booker made a clutch shot from the mid-range late in the fourth quarter. The score was tied to 106 and Phoenix had the possession. Booker drove to the basket and attempted an off-the-dribble shot from inside the 3-point arc.

His made shot left 1.7 seconds left on the clock, which wasn’t enough for the Bucks to tie the game. In the final possession, veteran center Brook Lopez had a post-up opportunity over Kevin Durant to try and extend the game. However, Lopez missed the shot as the Suns protected their home court.
Booker finished the game with 19 points, seven rebounds, and twelve assists. The top guard shot 38.9% from the floor and missed all five deep shots. Still, that was not an issue in the game’s final moments. Durant led the team with 38 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks. The star forward shot 52.4% from the field.

After the game, Booker talked to the media about the final offensive play. According to him, the play was originally drawn for Durant during his time with Team USA at the Olympics. However, the Bucks’ defense denied KD the ball and it led to the former Kentucky star stepping up and taking the final shot.
“The play was actually for KD, a play that we ran in the Olympics with Steve Kerr,” Booker said.
“But they denied him, Oso set an unbelievable screen… [I was] trying to get to the rim but I seen them bout to cut me off so, [I] just side stepped.”

In the past three games for the Suns, Booker averaged 28.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists on 50% shooting from the field. Phoenix is looking forward to carrying their winning streak as the 2024-25 season is close to ending. Their next game will be on Wednesday, against the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.
