Phoenix Suns shooting guard Grayson Allen got a bag on Monday after the conclusion of the regular season. Fans had mixed reactions to Allen’s massive payday.
Allen has had a standout first season with the Suns. The campaign has prompted his team to commit some serious cash to secure his services long-term.
The Phoenix Suns Locked Up Grayson Allen To A New Contract

The Suns reportedly signed Allen to a 4-year extension worth $70 million with the final year as a player option. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Monday morning.
Allen is making just under $9 million this season and had been slated to be a free agent in the offseason.

Allen is the Suns’ fourth-leading scorer averaging 13.5 points per game behind Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. His moneymaker — literally — is his three-point marksmanship this season.
Allen finished the season as the NBA’s most accurate qualified three-point shooter with a 46.1% shooting clip from deep on nearly six attempts per game.

The Reactions To Grayson Allen’s New Contract With The Phoenix Are Split
The internet — as it is with most things — was completely split on Allen’s new deal. There were several voices who believes that Allen’s contract was well-deserved. Some even believed that the deal was an absolutely steal.

Well deserved payday for Grayson Allen. Now it's Royce O'Neale time @Mishbia15.

My guy got paid 💰💰💰💰. Every team in the NBA could use a Grayson Allen right now. Top tier shooter who can defend his position well. Grayson’s career has unwinded quite nicely, so happy for him. https://t.co/ryJoQUUO2S

But others viewed the deal as a huge overpay. Allen is extremely effective at shooting the basketball and has some chops as a release valve scorer playing off bigger stars. But some feel as though that type of skill set with so-so defense doesn’t merit a $70 million deal.
I know he’s had a great year for them but this is QUITE the commitment to Grayson Allen. https://t.co/ies1zx8xz0

NBA money is insane cause no way in hell is Grayson Allen worth $70 million LOL https://t.co/7BrMuiucmX

While $70 million seems like a massive amount of money on its face, the rising salaries in the NBA makes the deal seem fairly normal for a premium role player.
Allen is only 28 years old and has years of playoff experience. He’s a career 40.6% three-pointer shooter in the postseason already before he took his shooting leap this year. Allen has also proven to be capable of stepping into the third scorer role when one of the Suns’ Big Three inevitably misses time.
$17.5 million in annual salary for Allen won’t break the bank going forward.
