Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is known as a great basketball player and for being active on social media, as he is not afraid to call out his critics and trolls from time to time.
The two-time NBA champion, who will be playing in his 17th season in 2024-25, recently appeared on the Fanatics Fest this weekend and explained why he regularly interacts with his fans on social media even if he doesn’t need to.
“Yeah, the whole point of having social media is to interact with people, right? So, you follow me for a chance to maybe interact with me,” Durant said. “So, depending on how I feel, I’m gonna interact, and if you troll, I’mma troll back. If you show love, I’mma show love back. I try to reciprocate the energy as much as possible to give people more of an in-depth experience of who I am.”
His comments interestingly came days after his heated exchange with Dennis Schroder, as the Brooklyn Nets guard called Kevin Durant “weak.” The Phoenix Suns forward tweeted “ENTERTAINMENT & IQ” as a clapback to Schroder’s criticism of Team USA’s Olympic gold medal victory.
Kevin Durant is gearing up for a big season with the Phoenix Suns
Kevin Durant has had a productive summer, as he just won his fourth Olympic gold medal with Team USA, cementing his status as one of the national team’s GOATs.
Now that the quadrennial meet is over, the 35-year-old will fully focus on the Phoenix Suns, especially after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign.
The 14-time NBA All-Star is showing no signs of slowing down despite getting older, as he averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks on 52/41/86 shooting splits last season.
