Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant Targetted by 2 Other Teams

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is one of the biggest stories of the upcoming NBA offseason. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Durant’s preferred trade destinations have been revealed. Charania said that the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are his preferred landing spots if he gets traded by the Suns this summer. Additionally, the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in acquiring the 15-time All-Star.

After a disappointing 2024-25 NBA season, there have been reports that Durant could part ways with the Suns. The franchise failed to secure a playoff spot with a 36-46 record. Due to that, there is a belief that KD will force his way out of Phoenix and try to join a contending team.

Following the revelation of the preferred destinations for the four-time Olympic gold medalist, two other franchises are “lurking” to acquire the star. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst talked about it on Sunday’s episode of
“SportsCenter.” Windhorst also reported that the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Clippers could be potential dark horse teams that will trade for the veteran star.

“Once again, you don’t see Toronto on Durant’s list, but the Raptors are one of the teams lurking out there, who may be willing to do this without knowing that they can keep Durant on an extension, and basically potentially be a rental,” Windhorst said. “And I think there’s a couple others, including the Los Angeles Clippers, and potentially even the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is still wide open. Maybe Durant gets what he wants, maybe he has to accept something else.”

With the Clippers, Kevin Durant will potentially reunite with his former Brooklyn Nets co-star, James Harden. Throughout their careers, Durant and Harden have teamed up twice, first with the Oklahoma City Thunder and then second was with the Nets. However, they haven’t won the title as teammates.

Kevin Durant is still one of the best stars in the NBA. A team acquiring the 6-foot-11 forward transforms a franchise into a title contender. After it was revealed that the Raptors and Clippers could be dark horse teams to land KD, fans revealed their thoughts.

“The Raptors aren’t gutting their team for KD! Too match his salary the Raptors would be giving up a fortune 🙄” a fan said.

“Another ‘KD and Harden’ super team I’m sure,” another fan said.

“There is absolutely no way in hell KD will move to Canada for his last 2-3 seasons,” one fan commented.

“Would be a catastrophic mistake by both teams 💀”

“They got Zubac and if they think trading Zubac for KD is smart well go ahead”
