One of the main storylines in last night’s Phoenix Suns-Milwaukee Bucks game was Mike Budenholzer coaching against his former team for the first time.

Before joining the Phoenix Suns last summer, Budenholzer coached the Milwaukee Bucks from 2018 to 2023, leading them to a championship in 2021. The Milwaukee Bucks fired Budenholzer in 2023 after a disappointing first-round exit against the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.
When asked about coaching against his former team for the first time, Budenholzer offered a terse response.

“It was a great five years,” Budenholzer said via Hayden Cilley of ClutchPoints. “But I think right now, before the game, I’d rather just focus on Phoenix, focus on us. Get ready to do our job tonight, and our players don’t care, and I probably shouldn’t either.”
Phoenix Suns’ Mike Budenholzer gets the last laugh vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Mike Budenholzer got the last laugh yesterday, as the Phoenix Suns won 108-106 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Devin Booker hit a mid-range jumper with 2.4 seconds remaining to help the team secure its fourth consecutive victory.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 38 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and seven three-pointers on 11-for-21 shooting from the field and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Devin Booker, Ryan Dunn, and Nick Richards added 19, 12, and 10 points.
Phoenix will have their rematch against Milwaukee on April 1st at the Fiserv Forum.
