The Phoenix Suns have found what they feel is a solution to their point guard woes by signing Tyus Jones to a one-year deal worth $3 million.
Jones is already excited to work with his new team, as he told reporters his thoughts on joining the Western Conference team that is expected to seriously contend for an NBA title after a disappointing 2023-24 NBA season.
“I just want to hoop. I want to get out there with the guys, build our camaraderie, build our chemistry,” Jones said (via Shane Young of Forbes.com)
A former Duke Blue Devils star point guard, Jones’ role with the Suns is clear — to take over a position that the Suns struggled with last season. The Suns had Devin Booker playing that role a lot but he can now focus more on scoring and less on setting the table for his teammates.

Jones played with the Washington Wizards last season, averaging career-highs in points (12.0) and assists (7.3) per game. He is unlikely to score that many points again with the Suns, considering the presence of the trio of Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, but he will be busy feeding the mouths of his high-scoring teammates.

Last season, the Suns were 10th in the league with 115.6 points per game but were 25th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.797).
Jones was taken in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft (24th overall) by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
