Phoenix Suns news: One of the biggest surprises coming out of Team USA’s recent scrimmage sessions was the emergence of 17-year-old phenom Cooper Flagg. Despite the myriad of superstars on the national squad, it was the incoming college freshman who stole headlines with his big-time performance for the USA Select Team.
So much so, that even Suns star Kevin Durant had to take notice.
Phoenix Suns News: Kevin Durant Heaps Praise on Cooper Flagg
The Select Team held their own against Team USA, who for their part, escaped with a narrow victory in the tune-up game. Flagg played a major role in the contest, with the Duke commit making it abundantly clear that he can hang with the biggest of stars.
Durant agrees with this notion:
“He looked like a hell of a player. He’s somebody that’s only going to get better with more experience. He’s 17 years old coming in here playing like he’s a vet almost. No emotion.”
I asked Kevin Durant for his impressions of potential No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg. He replied, “He looked like a hell of a player. He’s somebody that’s only going to get better with more experience. He’s 17 years old coming in here playing like he’s a vet almost. No emotion.” pic.twitter.com/Q1FOn0aT55

Durant, who is dealing with a calf injury, was not able to take part in the contest. The Suns talisman admitted that he regrets not having the chance to battle Flagg on the court. KD will get the chance soon enough once the projected No. 1 overall pick enters the NBA in the not-so-distant future.
At this point, the fans are already looking forward to it.
