Even with an expensive roster that has two-time champion Kevin Durant in it, the Phoenix Suns still managed to sign Tyus Jones in the offseason. In turn, the former Washington Wizards guard revealed the big factor why he joined the Western Conference team.

The Phoenix Suns have bolstered their roster by signing Jones to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. This move addresses the team’s need for a true floor general after struggling to find consistency at the point guard position last season.

Jones, who spent the previous four seasons with the Washington Wizards, is widely regarded as one of the best facilitators in the league. He averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 assists per game last season, while maintaining an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.35, the highest in the NBA since individual turnovers were first tracked.

The Suns, led by the dynamic duo of Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, have their sights set on a deep playoff run and a potential championship. The addition of Jones, who has extensive postseason experience, is expected to bolster the team’s playmaking and decision-making, which will be crucial in their pursuit of NBA glory.

According to Jones, the Suns’ recruitment efforts and the opportunity to play for a contending team were key factors in his decision to join the organization. He expressed his excitement to maximize his value and contribute to a potentially “special team and season” in Phoenix.

Point Guard Tyus Jones Reveals Grayson Allen’s Part in Decision To Join Phoenix Suns

After Jones was introduced as part of the Suns’ roster next season, the veteran guard revealed it was Grayson Allen who recruited him. In a video shared by Shane Young on X, the move potentially puts to rest rumors about Allen becoming upset about losing his spot.

Allen, despite his prowess as a sharpshooter, appears willing to take a reduced role to accommodate Jones, signaling that players are willing to sacrifice for the greater good. This development suggests the Suns’ roster is aligning towards a common goal – an NBA championship that has eluded the franchise for decades.

The collective effort to strengthen the team’s offensive output and playmaking under coach Mike Budenholzer indicated a collective focus on maximizing their talent and achieving success. These selfless actions from the players could be pivotal in the Suns’ pursuit of their long-awaited title.
