Portland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson will be on a different representation, as he will be joining Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports this offseason.
Klutch Sports represents several established NBA players, such as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, De’Aaron Fox, Draymond Green, and Tyrese Maxey.
Scoot Henderson, drafted No. 3 overall in last year’s NBA Draft, is coming off a decent rookie campaign for the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 14.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 62 regular season games (32 starts). However, his shooting numbers left to be desired, as he only shot 38.5 percent from the floor, 32.5 percent from three-point range, and 81.9 percent from the free throw line.
With Portland reportedly looking to shop Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant, Scoot Henderson is regarded as one of the franchise’s cornerstones alongside Shaedon Sharpe.
Scoot Henderson and the Portland Trail Blazers have their work cut out for them, as they’re coming off a lackluster 2023-24 campaign with a 21-61 record, good for 15th in the Western Conference.
Why the Portland Trail Blazers plan to keep Scoot Henderson in the long run
Scoot Henderson will need time to develop into one of the NBA’s top point guards, and the Portland Trail Blazers will be patient with him, given their current timeline. Besides his on-court skills, his leadership and intangibles stand out within the organization.
“He doesn’t shy away from being our point guard,” Dalano Banton said about Scoot Henderson in his exit interview in April. “He doesn’t care that he’s a rookie. He talks. He’s vocal. He makes sure he says the things he has to say even if it’s not wanted to be heard. He’s going to have a great career.”
“You can tell he’s a serious guy. You can tell he’s dedicated. You can tell he wants to win. Before we stepped on the court together, his whole intention was to win and bring that to the program. I think it’s only uphill for him with that mindset,” Jabari Walker added.
