Anfernee Simons is a talented young basketball player stuck in a tough situation with the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Blazers finished near the bottom of the Western Conference despite Simons’ best efforts to lead the team. With no clear direction, it made sense for the Blazers front office to decide to blow up the team and go younger with their core players.
The decision that the 25-year-old Simons would be too old for the rebuild and needed to be shipped off. While there have been speculations on where he could end up, the Blazers haven’t done a move to expedite the rebuild process.
One analyst thinks that there are multiple destinations Simons could end up in if Portland is serious about offloading him.
Analyst makes 3 intriguing trade partners the Portland Trail Blazers could pick for Anfernee Simons
Fadeaway World’s Ishaan Bhattacharya made three possible destinations the Trail Blazers could use to get Simons out of their books.
The Los Angeles Lakers are still among the favorites to land Simons. While the Purple and Gold still have an incredible superstar in LeBron James, they need a third star to help them push past their postseason opponents.
Moreover, the Lakers would be more than willing to part with a king’s ransom of assets if it means getting a player who averages 22.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists a game.
The other intriguing trade partner that the Blazers could consider would send Simons all the way to South Beach.
The Miami Heat have an uncertain future as Jimmy Butler is not tying down his future with the Heat due to recent issues. If Butler isn’t willing to budge contract-wise, it may be wise for Pat Riley and the Heat front office to try to convince him to stay by reinforcing the backcourt.
Bhattacharya doesn’t think the Heat would have to give up to much to get him, and the move will help Miami remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.
There are also other teams that would like to get their hands on Anfernee Simons, but it’s up to the Portland Trail Blazers on what they decide to do with the guard’s future.
