Los Angeles Sparks small forward Rickea Jackson gave a huge shoutout to the young pliers over at the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, as her former college team also gave her a social media shoutout.
Recently, Rickea Jackson shared a photo of herself, her Sparks teammates, and the current roster of the Lady Vols. It was originally posted by Lady Vols guard Kaiya Wynn.
“Sweet 16 girliesssss🍭🍭🍭🍭,” Jackson wrote.
The original photo post featured Jacoson with the young players holding boxed of new headphones. The headphones were gifts from Jackson to the lady Vols for making to the Sweet 16.
The Tennessee Volunteers women’s basketball team is headed to the Sweet 16 for the third time in four seasons, after defeating Ohio State 82-67 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Vols, led by first-year head coach Kim Caldwell, have had a strong season, displaying depth, aggression, and impressive 3-point shooting. Their resilience and teamwork have made them a top contender for the championship.

In the Sweet 16, Tennessee will face No. 1 seed Texas in Birmingham, Alabama. This matchup is particularly intriguing as the Lady Vols narrowly lost to Texas earlier in the season, despite missing their head coach due to personal reasons.
Tennessee’s standout players, including Talaysia Cooper, Zee Spearman, and Ruby Whitehorn, have been pivotal in their tournament run, contributing significantly in scoring, rebounding, and defense.

Rickea Jackson, a dominant forward, had a remarkable career with the Tennessee Lady Vols. Transferring from Mississippi State in 2022, she quickly became a key player, leading the team in scoring and rebounding during her two seasons. Jackson’s versatility and scoring ability made her a consistent threat and cemented her outstanding tenure at Tennessee.

Jackson had an impressive career with the Lady Vols, earning accolades such as First-Team All-SEC honors in 2023 and 2024. She also set records, including a senior season-high and single-game SEC Tournament scoring record of 34 points in 2023. Her leadership and outstanding performance were key factors in Tennessee’s successful NCAA Tournament runs.

Jackson was instrumental in enhancing team chemistry and mentoring the younger players, in addition to her individual accomplishments. Her leadership elevated the Lady Vols’ program, establishing them as a strong competitor both within the SEC and nationally.
Her college career concluded with her being selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, where she continues to excel as a professional player.
For the 2024 WNBA season, Rickea Jackson averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
