The New Orleans Pelicans seem to be rethinking their decision to replace their current players with new ones in the upcoming season. Currently, the Pelicans are leaning heavily on Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. However, it was rumored that the team might be thinking of replacing the two pillars in the next season.
As per recent reports, the Pelicans are seeking to extend Brandon Ingram’s contract, and even offering a much higher payout for the player. It is quite understandable that the Pelicans are eager to replace their entire team, with the team being placed last in the Western Conference with a disappointing 5-19 record.
Most recently, the Pelicans took on the Oklahoma City Thunder and lost the game with a final score of 119-109. Against the Thunder, New Orleans’ offense was led by Dejounte Murray who put up 26 points, grabbing nine rebounds, while assisting five times. Herb Jones managed another 24 points for the team with four boards and four assists. Trey Murphy III put up 16 points, while CJ McCollum managed 11 points for the team.
This season, Brandon Ingram is averaging 22.2 points in each game for the New Orleans Pelicans, along with 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 helpers in every matchup. Meanwhile, Zion Williams has a 22.7 point average this season, with 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists in every game played.
New Orleans Pelicans Most Likely To Lose Against San Antonio Spurs
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are scheduled to meet the San Antonio Spurs next in NBA action. In their last meeting, the San Antonio Spurs won the game with a final score of 111-109, after Victor Wembanyma put up 17 points. In that game, the Pelicans were led in offense by CJ McCollum who chalked up 31 points.
The New Orleans Pelicans last met the Oklahoma City Thunder and lost the game, 119-109. The San Antonio Spurs, on another hand, are suffering a three-game losing streak, the latest defeat coming against the Sacramento Kings, 140-113. The Spurs are definitely in a better position in the Western Conference when compared to the Pelicans, and are currently ranked 11th in the table.
While the Spurs are surely eager to break their losing streak, and the Pelicans desperate to move up the ladder, the best NBA betting odds favor the former to win this game. The Pelicans need to revamp their offense as soon as possible, and the team riddled with injuries will struggle to keep their heads up in this road game.
