After spending the last three seasons in Chicago, DeMar DeRozan is arguably in a better position to compete with the Sacramento Kings, so he’s excited for this upcoming campaign.
DeRozan recently appeared on ESPN’s First Take to discuss his outlook for the 2024-25 campaign, and according to the 35-year-old swingman, the Sacramento Kings are capable of making a deep playoff run.
“Kings, Western Conference Finals,” DeRozan said.
After breaking their 16-year playoff drought in 2022–23, the Sacramento Kings didn’t make it to the playoffs last season, as they were eliminated in the No. 8 seed match of the play-in tournament against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Sacramento Kings have been pretty busy this offseason, as other than signing DeMar DeRozan, they’ve also added free agents Jalen McDaniels, Jordan McLaughlin, and Orlando Robinson while re-signing Malik Monk and Alex Len to new contracts.
Can the Sacramento Kings make good on DeMar DeRozan’s prediction?
The Sacramento Kings upgraded their small forward position with DeMar DeRozan since he is still one of the best scorers in the NBA. Last season, the six-time NBA All-Star averaged 24.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 48 percent in 79 regular season games.
DeRozan also averaged a league-high 37.8 minutes per game and was the runner-up for the 2023-24 NBA Clutch Player of the Year award.
He, De’Aaron Fox, and Domantas Sabonis will form one of the best trios in the league, but they will need time to figure out how to play well together since none of them are known to be elite three-point shooters.
