The Sacramento Kings will reportedly miss Domantas Sabonis for at least 10 days due to a sprained ankle, but the team is optimistic they’ll have him back before the final week of the 2024-25 NBA regular season.

Sabonis rolled his ankle when he stepped on Jaylen Wells’ foot after screening for teammate Zach LaVine in the third period. The 28-year-old center was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, but the Sacramento Kings rallied to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 132-122.
“He’ll probably be back sooner than we think,” DeRozan said about Sabonis via Michael Wagaman of NBC Sports. “I’m always concerned when my teammate’s not on the court. It looked pretty bad, but Domas (is) strong.”

“Domas wants to be out there as much as anybody,” LaVine added. “We need to make sure he doesn’t rush back and takes care of himself because we’re going to need him in the long run.”
Sacramento Kings’ Jonas Valanciunas will take over for Domantas Sabonis
Domantas Sabonis returned to the Sacramento Kings lineup last week after missing six consecutive games due to a hamstring injury. They are 3-6 without him in the lineup this season.

With Sabonis ruled out, Jonas Valanciunas will return to the starting lineup. The 14-year NBA veteran averages 9.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on 54.1 percent shooting from the field across 17 games with Sacramento this year.
The Sacramento Kings signed Terry Taylor to a 10-day contract earlier this week to boost their forward depth.
