The Sacramento Kings made a major splash in the market after successfully luring DeMar DeRozan to Sactown. It’s a homecoming of sorts for the Compton native, who will now be joining a star-studded lineup that will be looking to make a lot of noise this coming season.
Speaking of star power, DeRozan will now be linking up with one of the top point guards in the game today in De’Aaron Fox, who apparently, played a major role in recruiting the six-time All-Star to Sacramento.
Sacramento Kings News: De’Aaron Fox Actively Recruited DeMar DeRozan

According to a report by Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Fox and DeRozan actually had a sit-down even before the latter agreed to sign with the Kings. This was shortly before DeRozan made his final decision to join Sacramento.
That meeting obviously went well, and perhaps it was an opportunity for Fox to make his feelings about linking up with DeRozan abundantly clear.
“Fox was a crucial part of the recruitment process, league sources said, and an advocate of the move. That’s an important note considering Fox’s own contract situation. He has two seasons left on his current deal but has opted not to sign an extension this summer (as The Athletic reported), in part, because he’d like to see how the roster and future take shape,” wrote Slater.

As indicated above, DeRozan’s arrival is expected to impact Fox’s own future in Sacramento. This will, of course, depend on how things play out for this team this coming season following their successful summer coup.
DeRozan could be a game-changer for the Kings, but if this squad fails to reach their objectives again this season, then it would be even harder for the front office to convince Fox to stay.
