Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox Reacts to Gilbert Arenas’ Scorched Earth Comments on DeMar DeRozan

So much has been said about DeMar DeRozan’s high-profile move to the Sacramento Kings. As much as this monumental decision has been praised by folks from in and around the NBA, it’s only natural that this move has also drawn its fair share of critics.

One personality who clearly does not agree with DeRozan’s decision to take his talents to Sacramento is former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. As always, the outspoken ex-All-NBA guard did not hold back in sharing his brutally honest opinion on this major free agency development.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Arenas went scorched earth in criticizing DeRozan’s move. The 42-year-old also took aim at the city of Sacramento in his no-holds-barred take:

“Man, f— the Kings, man,” Arenas said (h/t Peter Dewey of AHN Fire Digital.

“… I need to call DeMar man. Don’t you like big cities, bro? You keep going to these weak a— cities, man. San Antonio, man, Chicago cold. You going down to Hicksville (Sacramento). … They rank No. 1 in people just being ugly over there. That’s not a city you want to be in.”

    Savage.

Kings star De’Aaron Fox caught wind of Arenas’ comments, and the Sacramento point guard could not help but respond to the hot take. Fox dropped a bit of geographical knowledge to contradict Arenas’ sweeping claim:

“Chicago is the 3rd most populated city in the country and San Antonio is top 10 btw 😂😂,” Fox wrote.

Fox has decided to take the high-road approach here by not engaging with Arenas’ clout-chasing comments. You can’t really say the same about the retired NBA superstar, though.
