Sacramento Kings Owner Drops Epic Kendrick Lamar Bar in DeMar DeRozan Welcome Message

Sacramento Kings news: DeMar DeRozan immediately trended on social media after his surprise appearance on Kendrick Lamar’s music video for his highly-popular Drake diss track, Not Like Us. In the song, Lamar took a shot at the Toronto Raptors saying that they never deserved DeRozan in the first place.

Now that he’s with the Kings, team owner Vivek Ranadive had to make sure that his welcome message for the team’s new star was appropriate.

On Monday, Ranadive shared a brief video of himself alongside DeRozan. In it, the 66-year-old dropped an epic Kendrick Lamar-inspired bar in his message for the six-time All-Star:

“So I know DeMar that everybody wants you,” Ranadive said. “Every team, every city, all the players. But I got one thing to tell you: they’re nothing like us!”

For starters, Ranadive was speaking the truth when he said that DeRozan was on the radar of multiple teams before he eventually picked the Kings. The team owner dropped the mic with his closing spiel as he (somewhat) quoted Lamar’s hit track to take a veiled shot at the other sides that attempted (and failed) to recruit DeMar.

DeRozan burst into laughter when he heard the line and you just know that the 34-year-old loved what his new employer had to say. It goes without saying that DeRozan, a Compton native, is delighted to finally be back home now that he’s with the Kings.
