Julius Randle has been long rumored to be on his way out of New York, and it was suggested that he should go to the Sacramento Kings if ever that happens.
Patrick Beverley posited this idea on his podcast, saying that Julius Randle might need a change of scenery given how the New York Knicks were successful without him last season.
“It’s tough when you sign all those kinds of players in his position. The writing’s on the wall. When the Clippers got James Harden, I knew Paul George would be out of there. I mean, 1+1=2,” Beverley stated.
“In their (New York Knicks’) defense, they had a lot of success without him, probably the most success the Knicks have had since he’s been on the team. I’d like to see him on the Sacramento Kings. Him in Sac? That’ll be nice, that’ll be different,” he added.
Julius Randle averaged 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists last season, but his shoulder injury caused him to miss most of the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.
He didn’t play during the playoffs, but the New York Knicks were successful when the team relied on Josh Hart and OG Anunoby as their power forwards.
Will the Sacramento Kings go for Julius Randle?
The Sacramento Kings will unlikely make a trade for Julius Randle because they don’t have any suitable offers to fill the New York Knicks’ needs.
The New York Knicks need a center following Isaiah Hartenstein’s move to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Sacramento Kings aren’t going to trade Domantas Sabonis anytime soon.
New York will also unlikely trade for Alex Len or Orlando Robinson since they already have Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa.
