Chris Paul and the San Antonio Spurs suffered a 124-116 loss on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite the loss, however, Paul continues to make history in his 20th NBA season. With his appearance against the Cavaliers, he took over the 16th spot in the all-time games played list. Throughout CP3’s career, he’s played 1,344 games.
He surpassed one-time champion and former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce, who played 1,343 games. The next player on the list that the veteran point guard will likely surpass this season will be the late Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers legend played 1,346 games in his 20-year career in the NBA.

Although he isn’t the same superstar that he once was, Paul still provides something important to the Spurs. His on-court intelligence and mentorship were the reasons the San Antonio team signed him over the summer. Additionally, he forms a deadly pair with French star Victor Wembanyama.
Aside from Wemby, De’Aaron Fox is also another youngster who has benefitted from sharing the court with Paul. When Fox arrived in San Antonio, he talked about how great of a teammate Paul is. Even though he spent most of his career playing against the 12-time All-Star, the left-handed guard knows what CP3 can bring to the table.
“He’s a very annoying guy to play against,” San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox said, “but when you get on his team … you understand how he’s been able to — I mean, he dominated the league. At 6-foot, what he’s done in this league for such a long period of time, I feel like he’s dominated at his position.”
“Just being able to pick up on the little things that he sees,” he continued. “It’s been helpful. He’s played for 20 years in this league and he’s been extremely great at it. You definitely try to soak up everything that he’s telling you and showing you.”
What advice did the San Antonio Spurs guard give Bronny James?

The San Antonio Spurs veteran is at the point of his career where he’s imparting wisdom to the next generation. One of the players who received advice from Paul is Bronny James, the son of his close friend, LeBron James.
“I’ve known Bronny since he was born. I was at the hospital when Bryce was born. It definitely hits a little different watching Bronny. What I’m most proud of is to know how much work Bronny put in,” Paul said.
“I think that’s what people miss in all that story telling. Is he’s been faced with all these different things… Bronny just keep his head down and he do the work. Anybody who hates on that situation and got a chance to see that is basically just envious or jealous.”
