De’Aaron Fox will return to Northern California when the San Antonio Spurs face them at Golden 1 Center this Friday, and the former Sacramento Kings guard doesn’t expect a homecoming of sorts from the home fans.

Fox spent the first seven and a half seasons of his NBA career in Sacramento before joining the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal with the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings before the February 6 deadline.
“For the people who still love me, obviously, I really appreciate that,” Fox said via Hector Ledesma of ClutchPoints. “Obviously, I was there for so long. For the people who don’t, we’re never worried about bitter people.”

“I loved it, man. The weather is definitely a lot better than people give it,” he added during his time in Sacramento. “Growing up in Texas, I’m used to 90 degrees feeling like 120. Out there, 115 to me was nothing. And just great people.”
De’Aaron Fox with the San Antonio Spurs this season
De’Aaron Fox has seen his numbers drop with the San Antonio Spurs this season, averaging 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.8 steals on 43.7 percent shooting from the field across 13 starts.

With Victor Wembanyama sidelined for the rest of the season due to a blood clot diagnosis, Fox must carry the San Antonio Spurs to help them qualify for the postseason.
San Antonio have won two of their last three, improving to a 26-34 record – good for 13th in the Western Conference.
