The future is bright for the San Antonio Spurs for multiple reasons.
Victor Wembenyama is an obvious source of optimism after the incredible display he showed during his rookie campaign. If you also consider how dominant Wemby has looked for France so far, he has the potential to become one of the most dominant big men the NBA has ever seen.
There’s also Harrison Barnes’ arrival that would add experience to an otherwise young team. The veteran forward found it easy to nullify his no-trade clause and join an exciting project with Wemby and Gregg Popovich.

However, many Spurs fans will comment that the best thing to happen to the team this offseason is Chris Paul’s move to become the team’s starting point guard. CP3 is a surprise acquisition for some, given that he’s still gunning for a ring to add to his legendary basketball CV.
Paul’s ex-teammate shares his honest thoughts on the move and what the Paul-WEmby partnership entails to the team and the rest of the NBA.
Draymond Green thinks San Antonio Spurs’ Chris Paul move is great for Wemby, team

In a recent The Draymond Green Show episode, the Golden State Warriors vet couldn’t help but rave about Paul’s ability as a player and emphasized that he learned more about the game in the lone year he spent with the future Hall of Famer as a teammate.

He gave a quick aside on how much he loved playing alongside Paul before going deep into what he could bring for Wemby and their future point guard in Stephon Castle:
One year with [Chris Paul], and I’m like, ‘Man, I really love this dude.’ He’s incredible, one of the best teammates I’ve ever had.
Pairing CP with Wemby to teach that young fella the way CP… one of the greatest vets I’ve ever been around, and I just spent a year around him.
That’s going to be great for Wemby and the young fella [Stephon] Castle. CP gonna teach the young fella Castle all the things that he need to know about the point guard position. And he’s also gonna tell him what he’s not good very good at and what he needs to learn.
The 39-year-old point guard had a down season with the Warriors, averaging only 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.8 assists a game. However, his numbers should shoot back up as he’s expected to become the starting floor general for the Spurs next season.
