The San Antonio Spurs have a new point guard, and he happens to be someone who’s virtually assured of a spot in Springfield.
With Chris Paul now with the Spurs, there is a palpable excitement within the San Antonio fanbase. Although Paul is already past his prime and just turned 39 last May, he can still be an effective orchestrator of any offense on the floor.

And speaking of excitement, that’s what the Point God is feeling, as he looks forward to learning from his new teammates and imparting his basketball knowledge to them.
Via Andrew Lopez of ESPN:
“I got a chance to play with [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander] in his second year in the league, and I got a chance to learn from him. I got a chance to learn from [Devin Booker], Mikal Bridges and all those guys. So, I’m excited to share with these guys what I know and whatever they want to know, but I’m also excited to see what I can learn from them.”
Chris Paul can still contribute a lot to the San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs signed Paul to a one-year deal worth $11 million earlier in the 2024 NBA offseason, as they searched for an upgrade in the backcourt. While Paul is not part of San Antonio’s long-term plans, the Spurs’ young guards can definitely learn a lot from him.
Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star and a five-time league leader in assists. When it comes to running the point, there are not a lot past or present who could do it better than him.
Paul can help the Spurs expedite the basketball maturity of franchise player Victor Wembanayama, who is entering just his second year in the NBA.
Last season, Paul averaged 9.;2 points and 6.8 assists in 58 games with the Golden State Warriors.
