The San Antonio Spurs are in a great position with their young core, starring Victor Wembanyama. However, even with point guard De’Aaron Fox, the Spurs seem to be missing one piece to solve their puzzle and reach their full potential. San Antonio could move to trade for an established star player to form a Big 3 with Wembanyama and Fox.
After the tumultuous 2024-25 season, veteran star Kevin Durant could switch teams and leave the Phoenix Suns. Durant and his squad failed to qualify for the postseason after a series of problems that involved injuries, chemistry among teammates and the tough scheduling.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, there has been some talk regarding a potential trade with the Spurs to land KD.

“San Antonio is definitely going to be, without a doubt, a team that is looking to continue to upgrade and add talent around Victor Wembanyama,” Fischer said.
Fischer also said that the San Antonio Spurs could be one of the teams to pursue Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo if he becomes available.
“We’re already seeing the process happen… What’s next? People in the league are already starting to whisper about San Antonio potentially being a spot to bring former Texas Longhorn Kevin Durant this summer. You best believe, they would call about Giannis Antetokounmpo, as well.”
Here is what Jake Fischer has to say about the Spurs being a team interested in Giannis this summer.
He also adds that there are “whispers” around the league of them bringing in Kevin Durant.

Durant will enter his 18th season in the league next season. Although he’s a seasoned veteran, the forward is still at the top of his game. The two-time champion averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns. And many believe he’s played his final game for Phoenix.
Fans react to the potential team-up of Victor Wembanyama and Kevin Durant

A team-up of Durant and Wembanyama would significantly improve the San Antonio Spurs. Durant is still elite and Wemby is quickly developing into one of the best two-way big men in the league. Additionally, Fox will be their facilitator to set up easy baskets for the two stars.
After the rumors started, fans went nuts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Here are some of what the fans said.
“Him and Wemby could play defense by themselves,” a fan said.
“KD been hinting at going everywhere lmao,” another fan commented.
“cmon kd come in and mentor Wemby and Castle while i also helping them get a good playoff run,” one fan said.
