San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle was recently named the 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year, making him the fourth player in franchise history to win the coveted award alongside David Robinson (1989-90), Tim Duncan (1997-98), and Victor Wembanyama (2023-24).

The San Antonio Spurs became the first team to have back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners since the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014-15 (Andrew Wiggins) and 2015-16 (Karl-Anthony Towns).
Castle took home the honor by garnering 92 first-place votes, seven second-place votes, and one third-place vote for 482 points. Atlanta Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher and Memphis Grizzlies’ Jaylen Wells finished second and third behind Castle with 245 and 123 points.

The 20-year-old guard averaged 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists on 42.8 percent shooting from the field across 81 games (47 starts) this season. Castle had the most total points (1,190), steals (74), and free throws made (249) among first-year NBA players.
