Victor Wembanyama remains present among his San Antonio Spurs teammates, despite being ruled out for the rest of the 2024-25 NBA campaign due to a blood clot diagnosis.

Because of this, San Antonio Spurs guards De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle praised Wembanyama for his leadership, saying his presence helps set the tone for the team.
“He wants to be around. He wants to still support his teammates, obviously, doing the limited things that he’s able to do. When you have someone who’s like that – everyone calls him a generational talent, what he’s really able to do on the court – being able to be around him to see the type of person that he is and that he truly wants everybody around him to succeed. He’s just a blessing to be around and a great energy to be around,” Fox said about Wembanyama via Hector Ledesma of ClutchPoints.

“That’s just the kind of person he is,” Castle added. “He’s not doing that for cameras or views or anything. That’s just how he is. He was at our practice the other day, so that doesn’t really surprise me.”
San Antonio Spurs back on the winning track
After enduring a four-game slide, the San Antonio Spurs have won two of their last three games, including a 127-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets last Tuesday.

Devin Vassell recorded 37 points (career-high), 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals, and eight three-pointers on 14-for-20 shooting from the field. Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox, Keldon Johnson, Bismack Biyombo, and Chris Paul added 17, 15, 15, 13, and 11 points.
Without Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs outscored the Brooklyn Nets 62-40 in the paint. They also shot 54.7 percent from the field compared to 45.3 percent by Brooklyn.
