Former Chicago Bulls legend and seven-time NBA All-Star Scottie Pippen once again showed his faith in cryptocurrency as he tokenized the iconic Game 5 Ball through his $Ball crypto project.
Called the Game5Ball project, where Pippen brought the iconic championship ball as an NFT and part of his blockchain project. The retired basketball legend took to his Instagram recently to aggressively promote the $BALL token, promoting the Tlegeram group for the project, as well as announcing other related projects surrounding the $BALL token.
Scottie revealed that $BALL will have new experiences launched, a gaming collaboration (which was hinted to be with Fortnite), community partnerships, and even a documentary depicting the journey of the game 5 ball all the way to it being tokenized.
Scottie Pippen and $Ball, Crypto Support, Satoshi Nakamoto “Visits”
Following his retirement from professional basketball, Scottie Pippen initially took a team ambassador role for the Chicago Bulls until he was dismissed from the role in 2020. Since then, the Bulls legend has been away from anything basketball and has slowly shifted his interest in cryptocurrency and the blockchain, including claims of Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto paying him a “visit.”
In July this year, Pippen claimed Satoshi visited him in his dreams, saying: “Satoshi was proud that I was opening a new lane for #RWA in the crypto market. Bringing the @Game5Ball to the blockchain lets me pass history to the community, innovate sports, and bring a real-world sports object to decentralization.”
He added: “Where there’s Satoshi, there’s room to be the best. Be like Satoshi.”
In September this year, Pippen took to X to promote Bitcoin, claiming that Nakamoto, the pseudonym for the Bitcoin founder, visited him and revealed the potential of the crypto to soar in value.
He posted: “Satoshi Nakamoto sent me this image in my dream last night and said, ‘You’re not the only BULL that repeats history my friend.’
Prior to that, he also claimed Nakamoto visiting his dreams and “predicted that #Bitcoin would be at $84,650 on November 5, 2024,” adding, however, that the post was “not financial advice.”
BTC valued for around $70,000 during the first week of November.
Following up on his seemingly panned-out prediction, Pippen likened the trend of Bitcoin to the rise of the Chicago Bulls in 1991, calling both “a dynasty just starting,” and urging people to “get ready for what’s next.”
Scottie Pippen launched his own NFT collection in 2022 and is currently valued at 435 ETH, or around $1.4 million
