Sonia Citron, Mystics Wrap Preseason With Atlanta Loss

Sonia Citron and the Washington Mystics wrapped up their preseason with a 70-80 loss to the Atlanta Dream at CareFirst Arena, struggling to recover from a dominant first quarter by Atlanta. The Dream jumped out to a 30-10 lead, setting the tone for the game with their aggressive defense and efficient shooting.

Despite a second-quarter surge by the Mystics, Atlanta maintained control, forcing 18 turnovers and converting them into 15 points. The Mystics struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 3-of-19 from three-point range, which limited their ability to close the gap.

Rookie Sonia Citron was a bright spot for Washington, showcasing her scoring ability and versatility in her final preseason appearance. Citron finished with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including two three-pointers, while also contributing four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.

Head coach Sydney Johnson praised Citron’s ability to adjust quickly to the professional level, noting that she responded well to challenges throughout the game.

As the Mystics go through the regular season. Sionia Citron is poised to be a rookie with huge potential in elevating the game of the team.
