The NBA is back with a new season and so the Netflix hit basketball show ‘Starting 5’ which this time will feature a new set of stars, led by Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.

“This captivating sports series follows Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis and Jayson Tatum throughout the 2023-24 NBA season,” the first season’s synopsis says.
The first installment was released on October 9 and was produced Uninterrupted, a production company founded by the James and Jay-Z. Uninterrupted will continue to be the producer of the second season.
Durant is joined in the second season by his former teammate Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets teammate and now Los Angeles Clippers star James Harden, Boston Celtics guard and 2024 NBA champion Jaylen Brown, MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of OKC, and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.
It is expected to be released by October of 2025.
A documentary film will follow the five stars in their daily lives on and off the court even in the locker room, from the regular season to the playoffs.

Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen was also approached to star in the show but declined saying he needs full concentration on the season.
“I didn’t want to bring extra people into the locker room,” he said. “Yes, it’s fine when it’s going great and you’re having people film you in your car after a game. But what if things go sideways? I just know my personality and it would have been too much.
Kevin Durant’s side gig in media
It is interesting to see KD join a Lebron-led media company as he himself has his own production company.

The one-time MVP, regarded as among the greatest, is the co-founder of Boardroom together with entrepreneur and his agent Rich Kleiman. The company focuses on producing content that mixes sports and entertainment.
KD is also the producer of the acclaimed Apple TV show ‘Swagger’ which was based on his life.
He also produced ‘Two Distant Strangers’ which won the 2021 Academy Award for Short Film (Live Action).
