Steph Curry’s mom, Sonya Curry, discussed many personal topics in her recent appearance with ‘The Travis Hearn Podcast’. Curry also disclosed her mom’s teen pregnancy and how she handled the entire situation. This was of course not the first time Curry had spoken out about the difficult subject. The fact was actually mentioned in her memoir ‘Fierce Love’ which was released back in 2022.
In the episode on Wednesday, Curry was quizzed about many topics in her life, including her much publicized divorce from Steph Curry’s father, Dell Curry. The divorce itself was quite hurtful for both parties, who each accused the other of infidelity.
“My grandmother stepped in, saying, ‘You’re going to take care of your responsibilities’. It was a lot of weight on a young lady, 16 and 17, with an unwanted pregnancy. I don’t want to say rape, but it was an unwanted situation, in a club. I have a hard time talking about it, so I’ll just leave it as an unwanted pregnancy. After that, I was almost aborted, but it didn’t work, and here I am.” Sonya Curry said on ‘The Travis Hearn Podcast’.
Apparently, Sonya Curry’s mother became pregnant at a time when the United States just stopped segregation in schools. Despite being almost aborted, Sonya Curry made it and finally became the mother of the legendary Stephen Curry everyone knows and loves.
