Sports analyst and media personality Stephen A. Smith has always been very vocal about his political views. From being an open Democrat, he recently raised the question: “is Stephen A. Smith a Republican?” While he has now openly accepted right-leaning views and criticized the left, he still does not formally “shift” his entire political stance.
In an interview with FOX News, Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts on the relevance of President-elect Donald Trump and the lessons the Democrats should take from the recent elections.
“Yes, I do not think anybody could dismiss Donald Trump at this particular moment in time,” he said, after talking about the promises and plans he said he hoped Trump would follow through with. “But not just because of him, but because of what we’ve seen the Democrats do. We are not falling for it any longer. The American people are not falling for it any longer.”
Stephen A. Smith went on to add how he is tired of the usual words coming from the Democrats and urged them to reconsider their entire approach.
“I’m no longer interested in nor do I believe any of us should be interested in listening to a bunch of fear-mongering to tell us who we should not vote for,” he added. “Why don’t you come up with a plan that tells us why we should vote for you? That’s what I’m interested in.”
However, he still kept his independent stance and reiterated that he is open-minded in accepting and supporting things under the Trump presidency, policy-wise.
“I am open-minded enough that I entertain that from a policy perspective. That’s what I want for the American people [and] that’s what I want for this nation.”
Stephen A. Smith to The Democratic Party: “Are You Ready to Admit Why You Lost?”
Stephen A. Smith, who started the previous election as a strong and vocal Democrat, even openly expressing support for Kamala Harris, recently called out the Democratic Party on the topic of why they lost the previous election.
“Are you ready to entertain why you lost?” he said in one of his recent videos. “Are you ready to stop debating amongst yourselves back and forth, ‘did we go too far’? Are you ready to concede that indeed you went too damn far with the identity politics, with woke culture, with cancel culture? Are you ready to admit that all of that was wrong?”
While he admitted that he did not vote for Trump, Stephen A. Smith admitted that should the elections happen again, he would “quite possibly” vote for Trump by then.
