Stephen A. Smith may have the blessing of Disney CEO Bob Iger, in light of the recent interview that he had with ABC News that focused on his intent to run for president.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock criticized Disney CEO Bob Iger and questioned whether he was behind the push for Stephen A. Smith to run for president in 2028.
“My larger point is that him being on this show, given a softball interview [and] him appearing on another Disney-owned property and platform is the clearest signal to date that Bob Iger wants Stephen A. Smith running for president,” Whitlock said.
“I don’t understand why no one in the media has reached out to Bob Iger and said ‘hey, this is kind of weird, you’re paying Stephen A. $20 million to talk sports and he spends all of his free time talking about I want to be president.”
“Bob Iger, are you comfortable with this?” Whitlock went on. “The fact that you’ve placed Stephen A. Smith on ‘This Week,’ is that not an indication that you want him to run for president? Do you want someone who’s never been to flight school to fly the plane? Why is that, Bob?”
Stephen A. Smith is under contract with ESPN, which is owned by Disney. Recently, he appeared in an interview with ABC News, which is also a news outlet owned by Disney.

Stephen A. Smith Called “Male Versio of Kamala Harris” by Jason Whitlock
In the same episode of his program, Jason Whitlock called Stephen A. Smith a “male version of Kamala Harris.”
“I think Stephen A.’s making it clear, ‘I have no platform, I have no agenda, I’m going to do whatever my handlers tell me to do on every position,’ and he’s not someone with his own instincts,” Whitlock said.
“Obama believes in healthcare and changing the healthcare system, there was something he was trying to stand for and accomplish. With Stephen A., I don’t know, he’s like a male version of Kamala Harris because he’s just a reflection of the whole Democrat Party.”

In his recent statements, Stephen A. Smith has revealed that elected officials, pundits, and even his pastor have encouraged him to consider a bid, citing his potential to make a difference. While Smith has never desired to be a politician, he stated that he feels compelled to leave the door open for possibilities due to the overwhelming support.
