Sports analyst and broadcast personality Stephen A. Smith called out FOX News for misrepresenting his statement on the topic of his stance between being a Democrat and being a Republican. For the ESPN analyst, he is neither and is rather an independent when it comes to politics.
In one of his recent YouTube videos, Stephen A. Smith called out and criticized not only the network but also left- and right-leaning media for tending to do such a thing to people who were giving interviews.
“It doesn’t negate the fact that when it comes to conservative media, they won’t hesitate to misrepresent your words a bit for a better pro-Trump, anti-democratic headline because indeed they like having prominent influential voices come over to their way of thinking,” he said.
With that said, he clarified his stance and made clear where he leans politically.
“I just felt the need to say that because it’s important that people understand I’m gonna say it again: I am an independent,” he continued. “I am not a Democrat so I ain’t apologizing for anything anti anti-dem that I may say. Nor am I a Republican and I’m certainly not apologizing for that. I have things that I am conservative about and I have things I am liberal about. I am a staunch conservative when it comes to my money.
Stephen A. Smith Calls Out FOX News for Inaccurate Headline
Stephen A. Smith was recently interviewed by Mark Levin for FOX News, wherein he was asked, among other things, whether he would have voted for Donald Trump if the elections would have a repeat. Stephen A. answered “probably,” and explained why he voted for Kamala, and what changed in his mind since then.
Later on, the interview was published as an article, but the headline was not something that Stephen A. felt reflected his statement accurately. It read: “Stephen A. Smith regrets backing VP Harris, ‘open’ to voting GOP.”
“Anywhere in that headline did you hear me say I regret voting for Kamala Harris?” he asked. “You did not hear me say that. Once again, I wanted to make sure that everybody knew that the headline didn’t accurately depict what I had said to Mark Levin. If I wanted to call out Vice President Kamala Harris like that, I would.”
Stephen A. Smith added: “I just want to make sure that we’re clear. I just want to make sure that we’re clear—nobody’s backing up or apologizing for who I am and the way I stand.”
