The idea of Stephen A. Smith running for president is proof that the American political landscape has moved from reality “to delusion.” At least, that is what analyst and critic Jason Whitlock thinks of the issue.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock explained that his talking about Stephen A. Smith running for president is not rooted in jealousy, but rather out or a sense of responsibility to address a matter close to his profession as a sports journalist.
“I’m going to be forced at some point to talk about how laughable and how frightening it is that the major powerful people in America are actively campaigning for Stephen A. Smith as a presidential candidate,” Whitlock said.
“If that doesn’t scare the death out of sports journalists from my era, if that’s not a wakeup call that he’s being propped up as a serious Democrat candidate not just by leftists but by people on the right as well…”
“If that’s not a wake-up call like ‘hey man, American politics has lost the plotline we’ve deviated from reality and moved into delusion and stupidity,” Whitlock added.

Stephen A. Smith Says He Has “No Choice” but to Run For President
In an interview with ABC News, analyst Stephen A. Smith justified his intent to run for president as simply him heeding the call for him to take his chance on the office.
“I have no choice, because I’ve had elected officials, and I’m not going to give their names, elected officials coming up to me,” he said. “I’ve had folks who are pundits come up to me. I’ve had folks that got a lot of money, billionaires and others that have talked to me about exploratory committees and things of that nature. I’m not a politician. I’ve never had a desire to be a politician.”

With that said, the analyst admitted the “reality” of what was happening around him.
“Here’s the reality: People, literally people, have walked up to me, including my own pastor, for crying out loud, who has said to me, ‘You don’t know what God has planned for you. At least show the respect to the people who believe in you, who respect you, who believe that you can make a difference in this country, to leave the door open for any possibilities some to three years down the line.’ And that’s what I’ve decided to do.”

Stephen A. Smith has reiterated that while he is “not a politician,” he keeps his door open to run for office.
