Both Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies are point guards, yet they play the position differently. One is primarily athletic, while the other is a 3-point shooter.
On Thursday’s episode of “Run It Back,” Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, both former NBA players, discussed the differences between the two guards’ styles of play.
“As we’re looking at these highlights, I’ve yet to see Steph Curry do any of these things,” Williams said. “Ja’s had a lot of success against the Warriors this year. He’s averaged 22 points a game in their meeting so far this year and Steph is only averaging 13 points a game for whatever reason against the Grizzlies this year.”
Parsons, stated the obvious when he talked about how each guard makes an impact.
“Could’t be any more different, right? It’s a freak of nature, athletic, explosive, bouncy guard versus a non-stop, constant movement, greatest shooter of all time.”

Both players have been the center of attention for their respective clubs during the 2024–25 NBA season.
Curry has played 20 games this season, averaging 23.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists. His outside shooting has been key in how he gets his points this season. The Warriors star is making 42.1% of his shots from deep.
In contrast, Morant’s scoring average is comparable to Curry’s. The star of the Grizzlies is averaging 8.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 22.0 points.
Stephen Curry struggled for a second straight game against the Grizzlies
On Thursday, Stephen Curry tried to lead the Warriors past the Grizzlies. However, little did he know that his performance would stand out for the wrong reasons. Curry played for 24 minutes and finished with two points on the night. The point guard shot 0-for-7 from the field and 0-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Curry logged the worst +/- in the team with -41, leading to a 144-93 loss for Golden State.
After the game, the four-time champion has not lost confidence in himself and the Warriors, speaking highly of the team.
“I genuinely believe that we are better than what we’ve been playing,” Curry said. “It’s nice to say it but you gotta do something about it and I feel like we can.”
Steph Curry believes Warriors will get out of this slump. He says the vibes are better than they were last season when they lost by 52 at Boston in March. He says Warriors are better than how they’ve been playing of late. pic.twitter.com/LICabYpkIy
