The internet is having a field day on the Golden State Warriors after they got manhandled by the Memphis Grizzlies, 93-144. Stephen Curry and his coach Steve Kerr are not bothered anyway.
The Warriors, who debuted a new backcourt partner for Curry, recorded their fifth worst loss in franchise history while the two-time MVP had the worst performance of his prime years after scoring just 2 points in 25 minutes of play. He was not able to convert any of his seven shots as those two points came from the free throw line.
Curry thought the loss was embarrassing but he is not going to be held up by it.
“There’s a first time for everything, right?” he replied when asked about the loss.
Although he is not feeling heavy about the loss, he is aware that there are improvements that need to be made.
“We ran into a buzz saw. We obviously know we are better than that. I’ve got to be better than that.”
Even the veterans were not able to contribute in the game where Ja Morant did not need to score in double digits to dominate.
Draymond Green had only one steal in the game while registering four personal fouls and four turnovers.
Steve Kerr not worried like Stephen Curry
Like Curry, Kerr is not pushing the panic button.
He admits that the 51-point loss is a humbling experience but his belief in his squad will not waver.
I know we’re going to bounce back, I’m not concerned about that. But we’ve got a lot to work to do to execute and learn how to execute under pressure and take care of the ball and get good shots.
The loss puts the Warriors now at 12th spot in the Western Conference standings, just half a game above the San Antonio Spurs.
Next up for Curry and company are the Minnesota Timberwolves who are coming off a loss to the New York Knicks.
