During a game against the San Antonio Spurs, Kevin Durant left early due to an injury. This, however, didn’t stop the Phoenix Suns star from praising Devin Booker for achieving a scoring record as he led his team to a win.
In a hard-fought matchup, Phoenix secured a 104-93 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The game was marked by a strong performance from Booker, who scored 29 points and surpassed the 15,000 career points milestone, making him only the second player in franchise history to achieve this feat. Unfortunately, the win was overshadowed by an ankle injury to Durant, who left the game in the second quarter and did not return.
Phoenix started strong, racing to an 11-0 lead before the Spurs could respond. Phoenix maintained their momentum throughout the first half, finishing with a 29-19 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 52-39 by halftime. Durant contributed 13 points before his injury, which occurred with just under four minutes left in the second quarter. The team later reported that he had sprained his ankle, leaving his status uncertain for upcoming games.
San Antonio struggled offensively, particularly from beyond the arc, shooting only 18% on three-point attempts. Despite a strong second half where big man Victor Wembanyama scored all 15 of his points, the Spurs could not close the gap significantly. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 25 points off the bench, but it was not enough to overcome the team’s defensive efforts.
Kevin Durant Praises Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker for Achieving Scoring Record in Win Against San Antonio Spurs
After the game, the two-time NBA champion went on social media and reacted to Booker’s insane scoring record. This can be seen in a tweet he shared on his official X account.

In a recent game against the Spurs, Durant suffered an ankle injury after stepping on an opponent’s foot, prompting concerns about his status moving forward. Meanwhile, Booker received a standing ovation for surpassing 15,000 career points, celebrating his remarkable achievement.
Head coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed that the All-Star forward would be reevaluated soon. Booker’s milestone not only highlights his talent but also reinforces the Suns’ aspirations this season. As they navigate these challenges, the team’s resilience and support for each other will be crucial in maintaining their momentum.
